Mint your first collection in DreamForge

Create a Hedera NFT collection in DreamForge, prepare one NFT, pin its files to IPFS and mint it. Four steps, with the fees to check before approving.

What you need

  • A connected Hedera account with HBAR for the quoted fees. Set up HashPack or sign in with email.
  • One artwork file you hold the rights to. PNG, JPG, GIF, MP4 and GLB all work.
  • A collection name and a short description.
  • A decision on maximum supply and on the royalty you want from resales.

Start with one artwork and one copy. Once the first NFT comes out right, the same steps work for a folder of hundreds.

Create the collection

Open DreamForge, connect your wallet and accept the creator terms. Press Create a collection. If you already have one, New collection is in the sidebar.

The wizard has four steps: Basic Information, Creator Royalties, Token Keys and Review. Name, symbol, description and maximum supply go in the first. Set the royalty percentage and the accounts that receive it. Hedera applies royalties to qualifying exchanges under the collection fee schedule.

Token keys decide what you can change later. Keep the supply key on so you can mint. Keep the metadata key on if you need to update NFT metadata after distribution. Read each key description before changing the defaults.

Press Create Collection, read the cost, and approve the request in your wallet. DreamForge shows the new token ID when Hedera confirms it.

You should now see

  • The collection appears in your DreamForge sidebar with its token ID, such as 0.0.1234567, and zero NFTs.

Prepare an NFT

Open the collection and its Prepare & mint area. Press Add (or Add NFT in an empty collection). Drop in the artwork, give it a name and a description, and add traits if the collection has them. Copies is how many NFTs this one entry mints.

Save. The entry sits in the list as a draft. Drafts are free to edit and delete; nothing is on Hedera yet.

For a whole collection, Upload takes a folder of images plus a metadata file and creates every draft in one go.

You should now see

  • The draft shows in the list with its artwork. The Minted column shows its status; hover the icon to read Not minted.

Pin the files to IPFS

Select the draft and press Pin to IPFS. Approve the cost. DreamForge uploads the artwork and the metadata file to IPFS and writes their addresses into the draft.

The NFT you mint next points at those content addresses. Wallets and marketplaces use them to load the artwork and metadata. Files remain available while someone stores and serves them, so keep your originals and maintain pinning.

You should now see

  • The Pinned column shows a completed status. Check the IPFS addresses and preview before minting.

Mint it

Select the pinned draft and press Mint. Mint all eligible does every pinned draft at once, so check the selection and the copy count when you use it.

Approve the cost and the mint request in your wallet. The serial number appears on the entry when Hedera confirms.

Minting puts the NFT in your wallet. It is not for sale until you list it or open a launch.

You should now see

  • The entry shows its serial number and completed minting status.
  • My NFTs shows the serial under the collection.

If a step looks stuck

  • The page timed out during a mint: do not press Mint again yet. Check the operation and transaction status. A missing serial is not proof of failure. Ask support if the result is unclear.
  • The pin shows an error: read the message and check the file size and format. Check the operation status and any payment before retrying; ask support if the result is unclear.
  • The wallet request never arrived: reopen the wallet and check for a pending request. Check the operation status before retrying. Reconnect if the wallet is disconnected.
  • Still unclear: write to SentX support with the collection token ID, the step and the transaction ID if there is one.
